Texas police are looking for a man who pulled a dog in the face, in front of children, near an apartment complex in Dallas. The man would have apologized to the group of children.

It is unclear why the man pulled the children's dog, identified by the WFAA as Nolan, a 9-year-old Labrador Retriever belonging to Genola Vance.

Vance said she had asked her son and nephews to take out the trash on the day of the shooting, and soon after, the children shouted, "Someone shot Nolan!"

Nolan was operated on urgently in an animal hospital for a fractured jaw. Veterinarians, according to the WFAA, have placed an external fixator on the dog's jaw to keep it in place.
