Calhoun County deputies said they found a bag of crack cocaine hidden inside a 73-year-old Battle Creek man’s ear canal during a Friday traffic stop.

A deputy stopped a vehicle driving at a high rate speed shortly after 12 a.m. Friday on Helmer Road near Harmonia in Springfield.

While investigating the case the deputy noticed that a small bag was peeking from the suspect's ear. Deputies later said the man was trying to hide a bag of suspected crack cocaine inside his ear canal.

Officials added that the suspect started showing symptoms of an unrelated health issue during the investigation and was transported to a hospital to receive treatment.

The man could possibly face charges of drug possession charges.

An arrest warrant is being processed and the case is being turned over to the Calhoun County Prosecutors Office.
