Woman sues Costco for $14 million after liquor cabinet fell on her

A California woman is suing Costco for over $14 million after an incident that left her with a traumatic brain injury.

Sadie Novotny filed a federal lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for Northern California alleging that a liquor cabinet fell on her while shopping at a Santa Rosa store last March.

Novotny and her husband were reportedly buying the cabinet when the model fell on her, inflicting serious “multiple, permanent, and severe injuries.”

  • “I caught the cabinet and pushed it back. My right shoulder, forearm, hand, fingers, and lower back hurt after the accident,” she alleged in the incident report.

    She also said that a worn wooden pallet and placed on a worn wooden pallet when it fell “suddenly and without warning.”

    Costco did not comment on the lawsuit that was initially filed in April.
