Body found in Texas pond in search for missing 5-year-old boy

The search for a missing Katy, Texas child ended in tragedy after a body believed to be his was found in a pond late Thursday.

5-year-old Los Jones vanished from his family home shortly before 3 p.m. The home is roughly three blocks away from the pond.

The boy was with his mom and aunt when he left through a bedroom window; security footage caught the child getting into the pond which helped investigators focus their search efforts.

“It’s a tragic situation,” Major Earl Dean said. “None of our officers want to respond to this type of call but we have a duty to come out here.”

“Our primary focus was to locate this child and we were hoping for the best, but unfortunately, this tragedy occurred.”
