3-car collision along Atlanta highway leaves 5 teens dead; 3 wounded

Authorities in Atlanta, Georgia said that five people were killed and three others wounded in a three-car collision on Highway 316 Monday.

At around 4 a.m., a vehicle flew over the wall of an elevated ramp and fell onto the collector-distributor lanes connecting I-85 to Pleasant Hill Road.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash but those deceased were all occupants of the same car.

  • “As far as the circumstances on how each vehicle came into involvement in the collision, I don’t have any details,” Gwinnett County Police Corporal Christian D’allaird said.

    The victims were identified as Ashley Gaitan, 16; Katy Gaitan and Coral Lorenzo, both 17; Hung Nguyen, 18, and 19-year-old Abner Santana.

    The injured were taken to an area hospital in unknown conditions. An investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
