Authorities in Atlanta, Georgia said that five people were killed and three others wounded in a three-car collision on Highway 316 Monday.
At around 4 a.m., a vehicle flew over the wall of an elevated ramp and fell onto the collector-distributor lanes connecting I-85 to Pleasant Hill Road.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash but those deceased were all occupants of the same car.
“As far as the circumstances on how each vehicle came into involvement in the collision, I don’t have any details,” Gwinnett County Police Corporal Christian D’allaird said.
The victims were identified as Ashley Gaitan, 16; Katy Gaitan and Coral Lorenzo, both 17; Hung Nguyen, 18, and 19-year-old Abner Santana.
The injured were taken to an area hospital in unknown conditions. An investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
