Jacksonville news, Florida news.

A Florida child had fatally shot himself Tuesday evening when he discovered an unsecured gun inside a bedroom.

Danny Waye III, 6, was watching TV at around 7:30 p.m. when he spotted a handgun and grabbed it. Police said that Danny shot himself in the face and died at the scene.

His uncle and guardian, Zachary Williams, said that he was sleeping when he heard the shot and woke up to a tragedy.

Williams added that there were seven people at the home when the shooting occurred. The firearm was brought to the bedroom by a 14-year-old family friend.
