US news, US news.

A 103-year-old Massachusetts woman who recovered from COVID-19 celebrated her recovery with a cold beer.

Jennie Stejna tested positive for coronavirus in late April. According to her granddaughter, they began preparing for the worst.

The family was told that Jennie had stopped eating and drinking and might not make it through the night. They called her for one last goodbye.

When Jennie's granddaughter's husband, a US Navy retiree, asked her if she was ready to pass away, she responded "Hell yeah."

However, instead of a grim phone call from Jennie's nursing home, the family received the news that she had tested negative, and was symptom-free, on May 8th.

According to the family, the nurses came into her room, and she said, "I'm not sick anymore, Get the hell out." The nursing home staff honored Jennie's perseverance with one of her favorite treats, an ice-cold beer.

"I think it's given everyone a smile and some hope, while it's dark days for everybody," the granddaughter said.
