Illinois store employee, 18, stabbed to death by suspect who gave ‘Black’ people ‘dirty looks’

A teenage Walmart employee was stabbed to death in a racially motivated attack over the weekend, police in Rockford, Illinois said.

Jason Jenkins, 18, was killed by Timothy Carter while working at the store on Sunday.

Surveillance footage showed Carter taking two knives from the store and wandering around giving “all of the African-American people dirty looks,” police said.

  • He then approached the victim, who was Black, from behind and began stabbing him in the lower back while shouting out a racial slur.

    Jenkins died from his injuries at an area hospital. Police arrested Carter who claimed that he had a mental episode after not receiving his treatment at a local mental health and addiction center.

    The slain teen was a student at Auburn High School. Walmart issued a statement following the murder offering “heartfelt condolences to Jenkins’ family.”
