Uconn student, 18, shot to death behind wheel in botched marijuana theft

An 18-year-old University of Connecticut student was shot and killed while driving late Tuesday amid an apparent marijuana robbery.

Zaid Deje Langs-Myers suffered fatal gunshot wounds before crashing into a Hartford bridge at around 10:30 p.m.

At the scene, police said that they found “quite a bit” of marijuana inside Langs-Myers' vehicle.

  • No arrests have been made in connection to the murder but investigators revealed that they have leads.

    The victim attended Uconn for the past year. Detectives said that he had never been in any legal trouble before Tuesday's incident.

    “The Uconn community is deeply shocked and grief-stricken by this tragic loss and our thoughts are with Zaid's family and friends,” the university said in a statement.
