3 American citizens die from unknown illness at Bahamas hotel

Three American citizens died at a Bahamas hotel on Thursday after contracting an unknown illness, officials of the Atlantic island nation said adding that a fourth is currently hospitalized.

Mexican authorities said that they have not determined the illness that claimed the tourists’ lives but insisted that foul play was not suspected in their deaths.

  • Health Minister Dr. Michael Darville said that there were other guests of the resort that fell ill with nausea and vomiting symptoms but were treated at local hospitals.

    “We feel that we are seeing is an isolated case associated in a particular area,” the doctor said noting that investigators are examining blood samples and awaiting toxicology results.

    Several experts are working to determine whether the incident should be considered a public health hazard.
