Woman arrested after faking own kidnapping story

Middletown police arrested a 40-year-old woman accused of lying to authorities by intentionally faking her own abduction.

The fiancee of Danette Hurtt made an emergency reporting that she was kidnapped on March 9 after she told him on a phone call that unknown men forced her to get into a car in the area of Delaware City around 6 p.m., according to a press document.

After a massive Investigation, Hurtt's lies were revealed while several agencies tried hardly to discovered the imaginary suspects.

Hurtt who remains behind bars was formally charged with counts of faking the kidnapping and providing a false statement to law enforcement with the intent to delay/hinder a felony investigation, according to Delaware City Police.
