Cement truck crashes into school bus carrying over 40 students on Texas highway: 2 killed including child

A tragic crash involving a cement truck and a school bus carrying more than 40 pre-K students killed two people including a child Friday, officials said.

The bus was returning from a field trip to a zoo when it was struck head-on by the cement truck that was traveling in the opposite lane at around 2 p.m.

The collision sent the bus rolling over on the highway near Austin, Two people were killed in the crash: A pre-K student at Tom Green Elementary School in Buda and the driver of a vehicle involved in the collision.

  • Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services said that four people were critically injured and airlifted from the scene and six others had serious injuries and were transported by ambulances.

    About ten other victims with minor injuries were taken to a children’s hospital.

    “This is a horrible and tragic day for our school district,” School District Superintendent Eric Wright said.
