Missouri authorities seek help identifying body found floating in Mississippi River

Authorities in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, are seeking the public’s help in identifying a body found floating in the Mississippi River last week.

Quarry workers recovered the body from the river on May 1 and an autopsy has since been completed.

Police are asking people with information about the decedent to help identify the body that had been in the water for one or two weeks.

The decedent was between their 20s and 40s and had several distinctive tattoos on their arms and fingers.

  • The tattoos included the name “Cee Cee” and star patterns on the left wrist and hand.

    On the right wrist, another tattoo read “love Melinda” while an “STL” and “a cardinal on a baseball bat” could be spotted on the person’s left shoulder.

    The person was wearing several layers of clothing including two pairs of pants and socks and suede boots.

    Detectives said that the decedent had a silver ring and a dog tag chain missing the tag when they died.
