Iowa College student whose body was found in a Cornfield died from multiple stab wounds

The Iowa college student who went mysteriously missing for more than a month after going out for her usual evening jog was apparently stabbed to death according to autopsy results.

Mollie Tibbetts, 20, was a sophomore studying psychology in the University of Iowa when she suddenly disappeared on July 18 while jogging in the the small town of Brooklyn. Her mother, Laura Calderwood, said that her daughter's slaying was a "horror" as she was stabbed to death in the chest and in the skull.

Authorities said that Cristhian Bahena Rivera confessed to killing Tibbetts and led police to her remains. He said that he killed Tibbetts after she threatened to call police when he stopped her while she was out on her run.
