A South Dakota woman was found dead on Dec.13 inside her vehicle on Interstate 70 according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Melissa Peskey's body was found fatally shot in the driver seat by troopers responding to a traffic accident. The 40-year-old's two children, ages 5 and 11, were also found inside the vehicle, uninjured.
Preliminary results of the performed autopsy indicate that Peskey was shot dead "from a weapon fired from outside the vehicle," according to the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office in Columbia.
The victim was Sioux Falls realtor, she worked for Keller Williams Realty. Police are still investigating the case as no one has been arrested, and are looking to speak with any potential witnesses.
