PHILADELPHIA's tragic homicide:woman killed in front of her 5-day-old daughter .

A young woman was shot to death by her boyfriend in the Logan section of Philadelphia, her newborn baby was in the same room where the crime occurred.

Authorities responded to a shooting around 4 a.m. Friday inside a home on the 6300 blocks of North Woodstock Street.

A 24-year-old victim was found on the floor of a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.she was pronounced dead at the scene.

the victim's boyfriend and father of their newborn daughter fled the scene and police are launching a manhunt to find him.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said the 5-day-old daughter was feet away in her crib in the bedroom during the shooting.

the baby was unharmed.

police said that sings of a quarrel were visible inside the house, as the furniture was tossed and overturned in the ground.

the baby was taken to 35th police district headquarters while officers waited on Department of Human Services. She was then transported to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children for care.
