The trial of a Florida woman accused of plotting the killing of her husband in 2000 and then marrying his killer began on Tuesday.

Denise Williams, 48, is facing a first-degree murder charge for the mysterious death of her husband Mike Williams after she allegedly plotted the murder, with the help of her husband's best friend, Brian Winchester.

In 2017, Winchester confessed to investigators while in jail for another incident, about the whereabouts of the victim's remains buried near a lake, and told them "Denise was in on it," claiming it was her idea.

Mike Williams was shot and drowned while duck-hunting on a large lark, near Thallahasse. At first, police thought he fell from the boat and was eaten by alligators. The two suspects were married in December 2005 and divorced in 2016.
