Mississippi Department of Corrections announced Tuesday that three more prisoners died in the current outbreak of violence at Parchman jail.

Two inmates have been killed at the Mississippi State Penitentiary on Monday night just after a third prisoner hanged himself inside his cell.

"At this moment, it appears to be an isolated incident, not a continuation of the recent retaliatory killings," the department tweeted.

The inmate who took his own life was identified as Gabriel Carmen. He was found dead inside his cell after locking it with a pipe. Officers last saw him alive at 6:20 p.m. 20 minutes later, he was found hanging and he was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m.

Since Dec. 29, five inmates died in the prison and many others were injured amid the troubling conditions at the facility.
