A man was charged with murder in connection with a man found dead in the yard of a North Charlotte home in late October.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:20 on Rush Wind Drive. October 24th. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Mario Witherspoon, was declared dead at the scene.

The officials did not disclose the motive for the killing nor indicated the evidence that led to Copeland being named a suspect. On Monday, police told the police that 55-year-old John Michael Copeland was charged with murdering Witherspoon. Copeland was arrested in Newark, New Jersey, following a multi-agency investigation.
