27-year-old man charged with first-degree murder after shooting that left two men dead.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with first degree murder while being armed following a shootout that killed two people.

Police said the shooting took place shortly before 22 hours. in block 1600 on Rosedale Street, northeast of Wednesday. When the police arrived at the scene, they found two men in their mid-twenties, shot dead and killed in a neighborhood house.

Police identified the deceased as Devon Miler, 24, of Northeast, D.C., and Lekelefac Fonge, 27, of Lanham, MD.

Davon Peyton, 27, of Alexandria, was arrested on Saturday and charged with first degree murder while being armed (premeditated).

The police chief of the Department of Defense, Peter Newsham, was at the scene of the shooting Wednesday night. During Chief Newsham's interview with reporters, you could hear loved ones screaming and crying in the background, saying something had to be changed.
