California authorities have arrested a man who was found unconscious near his dead infant with drugs next to them.
29-year-old Patrick Oneill was rushed to a hospital with "life-threatening injuries." He has since been booked into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of murder.
The incident occurred in a Santa Rosa home, Saturday at around 12:50 p.m. Police officers found the unconscious father next to his dead 13-month-old baby.
"We still have some more investigating to do," Lt. Dan Marincik said. "We saw no signs of physical injury, and there was narcotic paraphernalia in the room. We believe that the 29-year-old put the child in a situation that ultimately caused his death."
