Teen to be tried as an adult in shooting death of girlfriend

An 18-year-old Kansas woman was shot to death at her Topeka home by her boyfriend last Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, her friend claimed that she "was just loved by everybody."

Auston Michael Shane McNeely, 17, was booked in connection to the murder of Ashley Usher.

The Shawnee Co. District Attorney's Office stated that officers found Usher unconscious while responding to the home around 1 p.m. on August 17. She has sustained apparent gunshot injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead later the same day.

McNeely who will be tried as an adult is facing second-degree murder charges.

Following Usher's death, her friend said: "There was nothing that made you want to hate her. She was outgoing, vibrant always trying to make people laugh."
