Shuttle bus crashes into people near Honolulu cruise terminal killing one person; hurting several others

A shuttle bus crashed into pedestrians at a Honolulu cruise ship terminal Friday killing one person and hurting several others.

The deadly crash unfolded when the bus operator mistook the gas pedal for the brake, authorities said.

The bus dropped off customers at Pier 2 and started moving uncontrollably forward, witnesses said.

    Five other pedestrians suffered serious injuries and were taken to an area hospital. First responders treated six others at the scene.

    Speed is not considered a factor in the crash as investigators work to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
