Florida teen, 17, dies from gunshot wound after ‘friends’ left him behind: ‘They didn’t help him’

Authorities in Florida have urged the friends of a shooting victim to come forward and help with the investigation into his Tuesday night death.

Sadarion Cosby, 17, was reportedly with three “friends” when they approached a vehicle near the intersection of Ellen Place and Scott Drive at about 8 p.m.

The occupant of the parked car fired shots, hitting the teen in the abdomen. Two of the individuals who were with him and the suspect fled the scene.

  • One of the people with Cosby took him to a nearby home before taking off as well. The dying teen was brought to the hospital where he died by the occupants of that home.

    “A seventeen-year-old lost his life. His ‘friends’, and I use that term loosely, ran rather than staying and helping him,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said.

    “They didn’t help him get the emergency medical attention he needed, nor stay to assist law enforcement identify and locate the person(s) who took his life. Unacceptable.”
