A Michigan worker died on Saturday after falling into a sulfuric acid vat in a manufacturing building.

Daniel Hill was found entirely drowned in the chemical vat. The attempts to save his life by other employees failed.

Details of the tragic incident are still unclear. Authorities said that the acid was heated to temperatures of at least 160 degrees.

"This really is a tragedy and affects all of us," Police Chief Chris Sovik said on Monday. "We tried to reach out to his family and we offer our condolences."

The victim, a 54-year-old, was working for MST for two years. In his obituary, he was described as a "loving husband, a wonderful father, and the best grandfather to his grandchildren."
