A father was sentenced for four years because of the death of a small child.
Jeffrey Ficken, a federal judge in Rapid City, sentenced a four-year-old father to prison for starving his young son. Darwin, Wade Redwood, 26, pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of his two-month-old son.
On Thursday, the judge admitted that the verdict could upset some people because it falls well short of federal guidelines for jail time of 17 to 21 years.
Rapid City Journal reported: Reid's lawyer, Betsy Harris, stated that he was responsible, that he was collaborating with investigators and that he did not understand what it meant to look after a child, but he now knew he had to ask for help.
