The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are investigating a deputy-involved shooting with injuries that occurred Tuesday morning in southern Davidson County.
Officials said it happened on the roadway near the intersection of Hwy. 8/Badin Lake Road and Hwy. 49 near Montgomery County at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
the deputy was shot at and received non-life threatening injuries, he was taken to the hospital by other deputies.
The suspect was shot by the deputy after some type of disturbance, according to Davidson County Chief Deputy Stephen Pace. At some point, the deputy chased the suspect on foot.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol remained on scene waiting for the SBI’s Police Shooting Team to arrive. The investigation remains active.
