Authorities in Bethesda, Maryland are investigating a deadly crash that took the life of a 9-year-old girl on Thursday afternoon.
The unidentified child was getting off a school bus along with her friends when she was struck by the vehicle as it was making a right turn in a residential street of the city, Montgomery County Police said.
The girl was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where she died later that night. She was believed to be a fourth-grader at Bradley Hills Elementary School. The school principal, Karen Caroscio, said that counseling will be offered to students on Friday.
No other people were injured in the incident. It remains unclear if the bus driver will face criminal charges.
