Baton Rouge news, Louisiana news.

A former NFL player has been busted on Wednesday in connection to a 2013 shooting death that occurred amid a drug deal, police said.

Devin Holland, 31, was charged with murder for the Dec. 2013 killing of Timothy Pena who was found in a car with a single gunshot wound in the back of the head. He died at a local hospital.

DNA evidence linked the player to the truck where the victim was found. Earlier this month, Antoine Robinson was also charged in connection to the killing. Investigators said that the victim's cellphone included text messages that suggested a meeting for a drug deal.

Holland played for McNeese Louisiana University and Tulane University before moving to Tampa Bay where he played in four games. He was released in 2013 after spending two seasons with the Washington Redskins.
