The Afro-American History Museum of Baton Rouge was found vandalized Monday, one month after the murder of its founder, 75, Sadie Roberts-Joseph.
Police were investigating the damage, including broken windows and benches that had been returned to an institution in Louisiana, The Advocate reported.
It is unclear when the Afro-American museum Odell S. Williams, which is closed on Monday, was destroyed.
The institution's founder was also a community activist who inquired with local cops about anti-violence initiatives.
She was found choked in the trunk of her car last month.
One of his tenants, Ronn Jermaine Bell, a 38-year-old sex offender who was owed about $ 1,200 to Roberts-Joseph in unpaid rent, was arrested for his murder.
