Baltimore news, Maryland news.

On Friday, a former Baltimore police officer was sentenced to nine months in jail for beating a suspect and sending the victim to hospital for three days.

Arthur Williams was caught filming 26-year-old Dashawn McGrier in East Baltimore last summer with a barrage of punches that sent McGrier to the ground, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Williams joined the police just six months before he attacked McGrie.

Williams resigned two days after the incident and was charged with first degree assault and misconduct.

Judge Yolanda Tanner of the Baltimore Circuit found Mr. Williams guilty of second degree assault after a non-jury trial in June and sentenced him on Friday, saying that "his repeated beatings against McGrier were unfounded" .
