Remains of Louisiana African-American history museum founder discovered in car trunk

The founder of the Louisiana African-American history museum was found lifeless in a car trunk on Friday night, according to police.

Sadie Roberts-Joseph, 75, was found dead in the trunk of a parked vehicle in the 2300 block of North 20th Street. Her cause of death has not been made public.

"Ms. Sadie was a tireless advocate of peace in the community," police said on Facebook. "We had opportunities to work with her on so many levels...Ms. Sadie is a treasure to our community, she will be missed by BRPD and her loss will be felt in the community she served."

Roberts-Joseph was the founder of the Baton Rouge African American Museum that exhibits African art and was created in 2001.
