Media outlets announced the death of a 14-year-old boy who has spent more than five months in a coma after being shaken by his mother's boyfriend as he was an infant.
Carl Leggett sustained severe brain damage following the 2005 abuse during which, he was aggressively abused by Terry Stiles who was 19 at the time of the tragedy.
Following his death, the teen's grandmother, Shannon Jordan told reporters that "Carl's life was nothing but pain, medications, hospital stays."
The death was considered as an"apparent homicide". Meanwhile, it was confirmed that the boy's injuries were consistent with a shaken baby syndrome, police said.
Stiles remains in custody. He has received eight years in a prison sentence.
