Teacher plants bullet at school to urge officials get metal detectors

A Massachusetts teacher had left live ammunition in the school where he worked to prove that school officials need to place metal detectors.

Alfred J. Purcell III allegedly told the Southbridge High School staff that he found a bullet in a stairwell urging the school to be placed on lockdown.

Surveillance video showed that Purcell himself threw the bullet on the floor and quickly ran away from the scene.

Purcell later admitted the allegations claiming that he acted in order to make the school staff install the detectors.

He was charged with two counts of the unlawful possession of ammunition and two counts of carrying ammunition on school grounds. Among his charges, were disturbing a school assembly, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
