A Greenville father had reportedly fled an ablaze car leaving his 1-year-old daughter to burn inside after a long chase with police.

Lmhotep Osirir Norman, 26, was arrested and charged with one count of homicide by child abuse after the Friday incident when he entered in a chase with police. He was stopped by officers for speeding but he tried to flee prompting sparks and smokes from the car's undercarriage. Norman later stopped the vehicle, threw out bugs of drugs and ran away abandoning Xena Rah'Lah Norman, his daughter, inside the burning car.

"I just know that the car wasn't on fire when I got out the car. I would have stayed in that car with my daughter," he said during his bond hearing.
