2 killed, 6 wounded in shooting at Memphis block party where hundreds were in attendance

A mass shooting at an unsanctioned block party in Memphis has left two men dead and six others wounded late Saturday.

Police believe that at least two gunmen fired their weapons at the block party that had nearly 300 people in attendance.

Officers rushed to the scene over reports of a shooting near Orange Mound Park, south of Simons Bank Liberty Stadium, at around 7:20 p.m.

  • “This was a block party that was occurring without a permit,” police said.

    Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and six others were wounded including one listed in critical condition.
