A Kansas City boy under the age of five died after accidentally shooting himself while handling a loaded gun, officials said.
Police responded to reports of “sound of shots” inside a home in the 7400 block of East 51st Street.

When officers arrived, the boy was already taken to the hospital in a private car. The victim was later declared dead at the hospital.
Preliminary evidence suggested the boy’s injuries were self-inflicted and pointed to an accidental shooting.
The boy’s family identified him as 5-year-old Mari Scott adding that he had just attended kindergarten round-up before his tragic death.
