Washington teacher killed; suspect likely dead after body found in water

A fifth-grade teacher was stabbed at her Washington home and her suspected killer was found drowned in water near his abandoned car hours later.

Caitlin Follstad, 41, was stabbed to death at her home in the 2200 block of J Avenue by Anacortes Police officers on Tuesday.

Her 41-year-old husband Kevin Follstad was immediately named a person of interest in Caitlin’s death.

    There, troopers only found Follstad’s abandoned vehicle. His body was later discovered in water after an intensive search.

    “Based on the circumstances surrounding the case, what has happened, where the vehicle was discovered, and the unknown nature of his whereabouts, we do believe that’s what happened,” Anacortes Police Official Brent Lindquist said.
