14-year-old to be tried as adult for stabbing aunt dead

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced that the 14-year-old suspect accused of stabbing death his aunt on Feb. 1 will be prosecuted as an adult.

Ares Adle was identified as the main suspect in the fatal stabbing of his aunt in Sun Lakes. 42-year-old Tonya Harper was found dead, stabbed in the neck at a home near Alma School and Chandler Heights roads.

The teen faces charges of first-degree murder with premeditation. A judge has ordered a cash-only bond of $1 million for him. He is st to appear before the court on February 11.

The Office spokeswoman Amanda Steele declined to discuss the prosecution decision, but noted that the complaint included a state law allowing to charge juveniles of 14 years old as adults under certain circumstances.
