Police seek public's help to locate shooter who fired at a family car in an unprovoked attack

Houston police announced Monday that they have a surveillance capture of the pickup truck from which an alleged shooter opened fire at a family car heading to a store killing a 7-year-old girl and severely wounding her mother.

The car was carrying the victim, Jazmine Barnes, her mother, LaPorsha Washington, 30, and her three other daughters. Authorities are still speculating on what could have prompted the shooter, believed to be a bearded man in his 40's, to fire at the family nearby a service road as they headed to a store.

The wounded mother said that the suspect sped up after shooting the car only to pull in front and fire again.

"He intentionally killed my child for no reason. He didn't even know her, he didn't know who she was," she said from her hospital bed.
