An Illinois man has been charged with attempting to kidnap a 9-year-old girl from a Harry Potter ride at Universal Orlando resort.
Jason Mikel, 23-year-old, of Minooka is facing kidnapping, battery and cannabis possession charges according to an arrest affidavit. He was arrested Sunday in the locker area at the forbidden Journey ride shortly after he tried to kidnap the girl. He reportedly told the girl to go outside to find her mother. She got scared and ran away.
Universal employees grabbed the suspect who was trying to flee and held him for police. The girl and her mother, who had lost sight of her daughter for a few moments at the time of the incident, were both interviewed by authorities before the arrest.
