Politician shot intruder who was hiding from police in his garage

A Florida city commissioner shot an intruder who allegedly entered his garage after crashing a car into another property as he tried to get away from cops.

Reports said that Brian Williams, the palmetto city commissioner shot Avelino Misrael Vasquez-Perez, 22, while seeing him hiding in the garage and attempting to enter the kitchen. Police Chief Scott Tyler claimed that the politician was lawfully defending home and family. He will not be charged in the crime as he acted in self-defense.

According to police, they tried to pull over the suspect around 10 p.m Thursday after they caught him driving recklessly and may be he was impaired, he crashed into a home and get away then climbed a fence leading to William's backyard.

He faces charges of resisting arrest without violence and bulgary.
