A Missouri man has been arrested after hours of manhunt and fierce chase with police following the killings of four people from the same family and an attempted carjacking and stabbing.

Richard Emery is accused of the fatal shootings of an unidentified woman, 39, her two children Zoe and Jonathan, 8 and 10, and their grandmother. Authorities described the crime scene as "horrific" at the suburban home still draped with Christmas lights.

Emery then reportedly fled the area in a speeding vehicle leading police to a chase and a gun battle that left one of their cruiser riddled with bullet holes. Shortly later, the suspect stabbed another woman in an attempted carjacking before being tracked down by police and finally arrested inside a convenience store, bleeding.
