5years ago

32-year-old Gustavo Perez Arriaga, an undocumented Mexican immigrant is believed to have shot Corporal Sonil Singh of the California police, thus ending his life. The murdered policeman was also an immigrant, legally coming from Fiji, his homeland, to fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer.

Sheriff Adam Christianson of Stanislaus County said the law prevented the police from reporting Arriaga to immigration authorities for eviction after two previous arrests for drunk driving. He added that Arriaga had links with gangs.

California Governor Jerry Brown challenged Christianson's claims that officials could not report Arriaga to immigration authorities.

Brown's spokesman said the law "fully authorizes the sharing of information about dangerous gang members".

The president Trump wants the wall to prevent migrants from South America and Central America whom he has described as criminals and rapists.
