Thursday, an unusual explosion illuminated the night sky in New York which scared the locals.
No injuries were reported because the fire was under police control when it was declared at around 9 pm.
New York Police Department (NYPD) said that the light appears to be coming from a transformer explosion at a Con Ed facility in Queens.
the fire was declared as: "brief electrical fire”, what involves electrical transformers and caused a transmission trough in the region. Electricity supplier said he was evaluating power outages to determine the cause of the fire.
Con Edison has been in contact with officials at LaGuardia Airport, located nearby, that was inspected by stopping all flights for about 30 minutes. some terminals were without electricity.
Airport officials said in a tweet that many flights depart, others do not. So, check the status of the flight with the carrier.
