A deadly South Florida shopping mall shooting which killed a K9 officer is still under police's investigation.
Cigo, died at a veterinarian emergency center during surgery after saving the life of so many officers after he chased one of the suspects.
police were looking for a gang member involved in an attempted murder a few weeks ago at a bar and that police had received information that at least one suspect and another person were at the mall on Christmas Eve where they met up with a third person.
He said police secured an area of the parking lot and when the men came out of the mall officers confronted them. Officers took two of the men into custody, one of whom was wanted for the attempted murder at the bar. The third person they met up with took off running.
the dog was shot after pursuing one of the suspects who was exchanging fire with deputies, the suspect was hurt badly after receiving several bullets.
Sheriff Ric Bradshaw of the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said at a news conference Monday evening that the dog saved the life of the deputies.
“He did his job, giving his life to save and protect our own,” Bradshaw said.
