Two officers on their way to assist another officer just after midnight had crashed into the vehicle of a drunk driver in a nearly head-on collision.
Alonzo Reid and John Daily survived the crash that sent their cruiser flip several times before erupting in flames. The two officers suffered serious burns. Reid was reportedly up and talking but Daily is still sedated with 50% of his body burned.
Cesar Collazo, 23, was arrested in connection with the crash and charged with two counts of felony failure to stop and render aid and two other counts of intoxication assault with serious bodily injury on a public servant.
He didn't sustain any injuries. If convicted he could face up to 60 years in prison.
