Two LSU football players shoot man dead as he tried to rob them

Two LSU football players are involved in the shooting death of a suspected robber who targeted them while they were selling an electronic device.

Baton Rouge police released a statement Sunday to identify the victim as 18-year-old Kobe Johnson, who was not an LSU student and was declared dead at the scene Saturday. The statement didn't identify the two LSU players, who reportedly called police and waited at the scene. They were later questioned and released.

Sources familiar with the investigation confirmed that the two involved players are Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Jared Small.

The first and only comment from LSU about the incident came from athletic director Joe Alleva who said that the university was "in constant contact with law enforcement regarding this terrible situation."
