A Belleville woman faces multiple felony charges after police say she allowed her 2-year-old child to ingest methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Dec. 10, police were called to a home in the 700 block of S. 15th Street. When officers arrived, first responders were already on the scene giving the 2-year-old CPR.

the child was transported to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.

40-year-old Ashley N. Parr told officers she fell asleep on the couch with the child who was also sleeping across her lap.

When Parr woke up and rolled the child over, she said the child was not breathing properly and was gasping for breath. Parr went to a neighbor’s house across the street for help.

medical reports of the child indicated the child consumed or came into contact with methamphetamine and fentanyl. Both of those drugs were found in the child’s bloodstream.

Deputies search Parr’s home and located drug paraphernalia, and 5 grams of meth along with other suspected illegal substances.

The child is now in the custody of relatives.

Parr was taken into custody on December 19. Prosecutors charged Parr the following day with possession of methamphetamine, reckless conduct-great bodily harm, and child endangerment.

she is being held on a $50,000 bond.
