Authorities are investigating a footage caught in a suburban Pittsburgh school showing a teen bullying another wearing hijab then assaulting her.

The incident happened in the Chartiers Valley School District, southwest of Pittsburgh. A girl in purple is seen on the video arguing with a smaller student who appeared to wear hijab, then attacking her. The bullied student was treated for a concussion and severe bruising, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Other students called the incident unacceptable, and claimed the attacker was well known for causing trouble and that the school should take serious disciplinary action.

The Collier Township Police Department said the incident is considered a bullying, not a hate crime as the investigation is still ongoing.
